Job Summary

We are a large contractor in the GTA seeking an experienced Screed Operator/Tail End to join our asphalt crews. The ideal candidate will be reliable, safety focused and capable of working in a fast-paced environment both day & night shifts.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate the screed on an asphalt spreader to ensure proper grade and mat quality
  • The Tail End would ultimately be a Lead Hand to the paving Foreman understanding and assisting in lay out and driving production
  • Maintain consistent mat texture, depth and smoothness throughout various types of paving projects
  • Communicate with Paver Operator and crew to maintain production and material flow
  • Assist with routine equipment checks and minor maintenance as needed
  • Follow all safety procedures and job site protocols
  • Perform general labor duties as needed such as shovel and rake

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Screed Operator/Tail End on asphalt crews preferred
  • Strong understanding of grade controls and paving operations
  • Ability to work long hours in varying weather conditions
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, and standing for extended periods of time
  • Reliable transportation and punctuality
  • Valid drivers license
