Key Responsibilities:

Direct and manage traffic flow to ensure the safety of workers, drivers, and pedestrians
Set up and take down traffic control signs, barricades, and cones
Communicate effectively with other flaggers, site supervisors, and construction teams
Follow all safety regulations and procedures as per local and federal guidelines
Remain alert and attentive at all times to prevent accidents and delays
Report any incidents, hazards, or violations to the site supervisor
Qualifications & Requirements:

Valid Traffic Control Person (TCP) certification (Book 7)
Ability to stand for long periods and work in various weather conditions
Strong communication skills and the ability to give clear instructions
Prior experience in traffic control or construction is an asset but not required
Must be punctual, reliable, and safety oriented

Job Summary
We are a large contractor in the GTA seeking an experienced Screed Operator/Tail End to join our asphalt crews. The ideal candidate will be reliable, safety focused and capable of working in a fast-paced environment both day & night shifts.
Responsibilities:

Operate the screed on an asphalt spreader to ensure proper grade and mat quality
The Tail End would ultimately be a Lead Hand to the paving Foreman understanding and assisting in lay out and driving production
Maintain consistent mat texture, depth and smoothness throughout various types of paving projects
Communicate with Paver Operator and crew to maintain production and material flow
Assist with routine equipment checks and minor maintenance as needed
Follow all safety procedures and job site protocols
Perform general labor duties as needed such as shovel and rake
Requirements:

Previous experience as a Screed Operator/Tail End on asphalt crews preferred
Strong understanding of grade controls and paving operations
Ability to work long hours in varying weather conditions
Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, and standing for extended periods of time
Reliable transportation and punctuality
Valid drivers license

Familiar with Vogele, Caterpillar, and/or other Paving Machines
Clean and lubricate equipment and refill equipment tanks
Operate computer-controlled equipment functions
Conduct & Complete pre-operational checks on equipment
Secure special attachments to equipment such as screed and auger extensions
Perform minor repairs to equipment
Comply with all safety policies
Requirements:

Minimum Experience: 3 years
Valid G driver’s license
Weight handling: 50LBS
Candidate should be proficient with this type of machinery: Asphalt Paving Machine Screed Operator, and asphalt compaction equipment

The ideal candidate will be reliable, safety focused and capable of working in a fast-paced environment both day & night shifts.  This position includes operating Breakdown, Rubber tire, and finish rollers ranging from 3-14 tons to achieve proper compaction and high-quality asphalt surfaces.
Responsibilities:

Operate Breakdown, Rubber Tire, and Finish rollers safely and efficiently
Perform compaction according to project specifications and crew direction
Monitor mat temperature, rolling patterns, and coverage a needed
Communicate with paving crew to ensure proper sequencing and timing
Perform daily equipment inspection and routine maintenance
Identify and report mechanical issues promptly
Follow all safety rules and job site procedures
Assist with general paving duties as needed
Requirements:

Proven experience operating Asphalt Roller ranging from 3-14 tons is preferred

Job Summary
The Health and Safety Officer role represents a key core competence.  This is an essential supporting role that has controlled and moderate impact on the success of Fermar Paving Limited (“the Company”).  This role plays an essential role in maintaining a pro-active culture of Safety through the development and implementation of industry leading best health, safety and environment practices ensuring the safety of all employees of the Company, and the public in general.
The Health and Safety Officer provides support and reports to the VP of Risk Management by assisting in monitoring compliance with all workplace Safety standards, programs and procedures to ensure every employee get “Home Safe Every Day”.
The Health and Safety Officer will assist in mitigating risk by performing investigations, incidents, accidents and audits.   Represent the Company as a HSE contact receiving inquiries from clients, sub-contractors and external entities (e.g., Unions, MOL and WSIB etc.)
Key Responsibilities

Represent and work cooperatively with employees, clients, government entities, subcontractors on health and safety issues
Ensure regulatory compliance on the job site and abiding by the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations
Auditing site safety performance and evaluate implementation, recommending corrective actions and follow up to ensure implementation
Participating in and advising on investigations determining the cause and corrective actions to prevent recurrence
Conduct orientations with new and returning workers
Participate and organize corporate health & safety committee meetings, as required
Accompany third part inspectors during site reviews.
Oversee compliance to issues identified during third party inspections
File safety documentation as required
Work with human resources to create and implement new company policies while ensuring old policies are still relevant and up to date
Ensure all safety equipment is in good working order and replace any that is in non-compliance
Complete respirator fit testing to all employees that use respirators
Assist in the COR audits as required
Complete site-specific safety plans
Administration duties as required
Track and review safety paperwork submissions for accuracy and completeness
Perform monthly site inspections
Education and Experience

Post-secondary degree or diploma in Occupational health and Safety
Minimum 3 years experience in a safety role is required
Experience in construction sector is preferred
Working knowledge of OSHA and Construction Regulations
Health and Safety Certification or working towards NCSO is an asset

Job Summary
The Assistant Asphalt Superintendent role represents a key core competence. This is an essential supporting role that has controlled and high impact on the success of Fermar Paving Ltd. (“the Company”) Operations. The role provides tracking and reporting of detailed production, job documentation and quantities that are needed to compare materials used against Project Plan (Budget).  This information is critical to ensure accurate and timely payments to Sub-contractors and Vendors.
The Assistant Asphalt Superintendent provides support to the Asphalt Superintendent by communicating with other Company departments to assist with allocation of equipment and manpower and materials on the Projects. The role requires on-going communication of progress updates, quantities, and logistics items with the Project Manager, Asphalt Superintendent, Operations Managers, Client’s representative (Site Inspector).
The Assistant Asphalt Superintendent assists the Asphalt Superintendent in preparing schedules, budgets, and progress reports, as well as information required for regularly scheduled meetings with Management and Clients. The Assistant Asphalt Superintendent will be required to support multiple Projects concurrently.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative Oversight

Liaison between field and office, plant operators, drivers, sub-contractors and project management.
Coordinate with project managers and site superintends as needed
Tracks production and quantities (materials used against plan) on current assigned Projects.
Ensures site workers’ time sheets data are entered into Payroll (and confirmed).
Assists with completing required Safety and job documentation.
Prepare all packing slips and back-ups ensuring accurate and timely entries.
Completes Annual Performance Review providing goals and opportunities for development.
Support training and development of crew members
Planning and Financial

Assists in preparation of P&L Summary, including Costing issues. Gather information on Time & Materials usage and extra payments outside of contracts. Report sent to PMO.
Assists with planning and coordinating daily paving operations including scheduling of crews, equipment and materials
Updating Profit and Loss Summary and two-week Look A-heads, providing input into Planning with Site Superintendent, Foreman and Project Manager.
Provides feedback on Performance Review of Projects.
Prepares reports to substantiate Change Orders for claims when required.
Provides input and assists Asphalt Superintendent with preparing quarterly Budget updates.
Reports payments completed.
Assists with preparation of baseline schedule and Budget updates.
Operating

Monitor job site progress and report issues or delays to the Asphalt Superintendent
Assist with quality control and troubleshooting on site
Ensure compliance with safety policies and company procedures
Assists with preparation of Look Ahead schedules.
Attends and prepares agendas and minutes for weekly work site Coordination Meetings.
Ensures Locates are up-to-date for utilities (underground work).
Attends Project Coordinating Monthly meeting to participate in Training, Change of Process Updates, Project/Performance updates, and relevant Company news.
Education and Experience

College Diploma (Civil Engineering) or equivalent Construction Industry experience.
4+ years’ experience in asphalt paving, road milling and road construction
Knowledge of asphalt operations, equipment and paving processes
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to read plans and job specifications
Interpreting contracts and creating change orders.
Computer skills (MS Office suite).
Valid driver’s license
