Job Summary
The Plant Operator has high level impact on the success of Fermar Paving Ltd. (“the Company”) Operations. The role is accountable for maintaining 24/7 operations and 100% machinery availability at a facility that provides the high-quality asphalt products needed during the Company’s entire paving season.
The incumbent communicates directly and in a timely manner with foremen on job sites and with customers, responding to their requests for materials. The Plant Operator maintains a strong focus on Safety as the #1 Priority for plant operations and ensures all procedures comply with all applicable Safety Standards, and the Company’s Safe Workplace targets including successfully maintaining COR certification.
The Plant Operator is responsible and accountable for demonstrating solid leadership and management skills acting in the best interests of the company and people at all times. The Plant Operator has the responsibility and ability to shut down the plant in the event of an emergency, and as such has a potentially substantial impact on Operations.

Travel Requirements Occasional travel between plants in Etobicoke and Mississauga distance of approximately 17 kms. |
Physical Environment High intensity. 100% plant environment. Exposure to disagreeable elements (machinery, safety hazards). |
Physical Demands High intensity. Hands on machinery and tools. Extended hours of work. Lifting/Carrying tools and equipment up to 70lbs. On call 24/7. |
